Kenosha, What is the best dental routine?

Do you have a Kenosha, WI dental care routine? Believe it or not but more than half of the American population have succumbed to tooth decay and gum disease all because they haven’t established an oral care routine. Brushing when they feel like it, flossing when there’s a dental wax available in the bathroom, and rinsing with a mouthwash once a year are recipes for disaster. Not only will it impact the appearance of your smile but poor dental hygiene will weaken and compromise your overall health. If you need guidance and assistance, the best thing you can do is to partner with a trusted dental health professional.

An initial consultation is worth the investment because on that day, you will know if there is anything wrong with your oral health. In addition to checking your mouth, your dentist will also offer personalized treatment care plans to address your dental issues. It doesn’t end there, after receiving treatment, your dentist will educate you about proper oral hygiene so you’ll know what to do, when to do it, how often you should do it and many more!

In this blog, we’ll show you the ideal dental care routine for adults. This should be done daily as recommended by the American Dental Association to preserve the beauty and health of your smile.

Brushing

One of the cornerstones of good oral health is establishing a brushing routine. Don’t brush too long and don’t brush to hastily. The recommended time frame for brushing is approximately 2 minutes. You may time yourself or hum to a 2-minute song. Don’t spend too much time brushing one area of your mouth but instead divide the time. Generally, you can do 30 seconds for every quadrant in your mouth. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush when cleaning your teeth. Do this twice a day 30 minutes after a meal. Make sure you brush all areas of your teeth most especially the chewing area to remove food particles and bacteria.

Flossing

You don’t necessarily have to floss your teeth before or after you brush. Flossing once a day would suffice. When you floss, don’t forget to include your back teeth as these harbor more food debris and germs. Wrap a 45 centimeter floss around your fingers and slide it slowly in between your teeth following your teeth’s curve. Don’t be harsh as you may accidentally injure your gums. Do this in every tooth. Use the clean part of the floss every time. If you’re not confident about your flossing skills you may ask your dentist to demonstrate it to you.

Rinsing

After brushing and flossing your teeth the next step is to rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash. Gargle and swish the mouthwash in your mouth for approximately 40 seconds while your lips are completely sealed. Spit the mouthwash after 40 seconds. Don’t rinse your mouth with water. Leave it as it is.

Takeaway

These 3 should be done on a daily basis, 30 minutes after a meal. The reason why it is discouraged to brush your teeth right after eating is the acids from your food are going to be rubbed further against your enamel and this can wear it down, making the whole thing counterproductive. Besides establishing an oral care routine, you should also regularly see your dentist. The America Dental Association urges everyone to visit the dental once every 6 months. However, if you have existing dental problems you may need to check with your dentist more frequently. Once you’ve established an oral care routine, your chances of getting tooth decay and periodontal disease will be greatly reduced.
